About Us

 

Is a developmental unit under the Office of the Governor of Albay, implementing key strategies on developing coastal community through Eco Nautical Tourism, Sustainable Agriculture for Food Security and Livelihood, Coastal Resource Management and Conservation, Human Capital Development, Research and Development and lastly Introduction of Renewable Energy.

 

 Our Vision

 

Significant number of coastal communities in the Province of Albay with equal access to; participation in the development of and the sharing of benefits from marine resources that shall result to improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities.

 

Our Mission

The office/program exists for the empowerment of the coastal and geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities of Albay through community-driven and integrated programs in marine based eco-tourism, livelihood, organic farming, shelter and self-governance guided by the principles of the Blue Economy towards the attainment of sustainable development.

 

 

Started as CRABS++ stands for Cagraray, Rapu-rapu, Batan, San Miguel plus two seaboards. The only area-specific special project of Albay province. Concept started off as mangrove planting program in joint-ventures with coops and corps.  4 “I”s: horizontal (area) Integration, Institutions, Interventions, Infrastructure.

 

We started the following initiatives.

 

- Alternative economic development approach

- Sus-Ag: food production under ARPO (Agri Rehab Program Office), next is FISDA (Fishery Integrated Sector Development Approach)

- Livelihood and rural enterprise development: fish processing

- Environment Protocol and Management Program: mangrove plantation, coral protection, island upland NIPAs

- Tourism development: Misibis, CRABS diving

- Batan Island ARCDP: province-led infrastructure project under ARISP 3 mainly for backbone road network and irrigation

- Development Administration: CRABS Devt Council- LGUs + Apsemo, CIRCA, AMGDO to manage 4-Island Development Strategy

- Implemented BIO-INTENSIVE GARDENING (B.I.G) Training in 14 targeted coastal and island communities under CRABS++ areas

- Assessment of Potential Tour Destination in the Cagraray Island-Bacacay, San Miguel-Tabaco, Batan-Rapurapu and Manito

- Bio-Physical Assessment of Coral
